A long time ago, when humans had just evolved into the form they are in these days, Gaia called for help from the other planets in the galaxy. These humans were destroying her land and killing her creatures and she was rather worried. The Moon answered Gaia's plea and had its most powerful being, Brunestud of the Crimson Moon, help create the True Ancestor vampires to feed on humans and keep humans in check. Many years later, Brunestud of the Crimson Moon came to Earth in search of something interesting.

He was pretty fortunate in what he found. In a certain village, during humanity's early days, existed a young boy. This boy was a “Planet Terminal” and had an ability called “demonization” which allowed him to make manifest any creature a human could imagine. Because of this, the village people worshiped him. This worship was very gruesome because, to prevent him from leaving, they cut off the boy's arms and legs. Hearing of this boy, the Crimson Moon came to this village and set a decree. If they could imagine a powerful enough creature for the boy to bring to life that could defeat him, he would leave the village alone. If not, he would kill everyone.

The boy ended up bringing creature after creature to life at the villager's whims. They wished to live but none of the creatures they could imagine were powerful enough to destroy the Crimson Moon. He ended up wiping out the village and the poor boy died of exhaustion, bringing to life more creatures than he could handle. But the Crimson Moon enjoyed this ability, thought it was true art, and turned the boy into a vampire. When the boy came to, he ordered him to create four creatures to become his arms and legs. The boy did so and became the person we know as Merem Solomon.

Merem felt he owed a great debt to the Crimson Moon and followed him everywhere he went. He was immortal now so death was far beyond his realm. Unfortunately for him, Zelretch, the great Magus, got into an argument with the Crimson Moon. The Crimson Moon thought it would be a good idea to crash the moon into Earth and Zelretch pretty much disagreed entirely. After a long fight, Zelretch ended up being turned into a vampire and the Crimson Moon was defeated and killed.

The Crimson Moon, not wanting to lose his existence, placed shards of himself into two of his ancestors; Arcueid and Altrouge Brunestud. The two sisters were hardly concerned about who would be the real successor to the throne of “Type Moon” but Merem supported Arcueid as the real ancestor to the throne, unlike many of the other vampires that existed. Merem came to hate Altrouge as a false Princess and wanted nothing to do with her.

A great sorcerer named Roa came into existence after this. With the Church of the Vatican, he created an organization that would hunt down vampires called the Burial Organization. This was the human's first offensive against the race that had plagued them for so long. Seeing the problem, Merem offered his services to the Burial Organization. In return, he could study the artifacts that the Church kept in storage. They snapped up this deal, knowing that they were just using the old vampire. Merem knew he was being used but, in return, he used the Church. He wanted to study history and that's what he got.

Eight hundred years ago, Roa became obsessed with immortality did something rather devious. He tricked Arcueid into turning him into a vampire. Arcueid was driven insane in the process and Altrouge was forced to defeat her. Then as she went to face off against Roa, she was pounded into the ground by the sorcerer's magic and new vampire abilities. Merem came to appreciate Roa for this victory against Altrouge but Arcueid, after recovering, quickly sought to kill Roa. After eighteen reincarnations, Roa was finally permanently killed by Tohno Shiki.

Some period of time after this, Ciel, one of Merem's co-workers, is given what is considered a suicide mission. Merem, eager to see Ciel's want to live but hypocritical urge to die, tagged along. He even ate the person who was supposed to be Ciel's partner so he could be given the spot to join. Unfortunately, their target ended up being more powerful than Merem imagined and he ended up being temporarily injured. Ciel had to drag him back so he could quickly heal up despite her dislike of vampires and Merem in general. But such was life for Ciel around Merem.

◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? No.

◎ Personality:
Merem, as a person who has lived since the dawn of humanity, has a very detached view of life. He is immortal, time means nothing, and he really cannot be hurt. As such, people dying or suffering means very little since it will end in the blink of an eye to him. Humanity also exists low on his scale of importance because they are like cows to him. They live a decent life and, in return, he feeds on them to keep living. This can be termed as cruel or insensitive but as a higher being, he can take such a view on life.

As a person, Merem describes himself as “wise and cool”, as if he's trying to be like his namesake King Solomon. He's not a super genius or capable of high speed calculations but long life has granted him much more. His interest in history and learning allows him to make very logical decisions based on the past experiences of others. He can often be found looking into an artifact or researching a past event to find out what exactly happened. Politics are very important to him since the other vampires often engage in intense political discussions to make decisions.

Many other vampires enjoy things to be boring, sedate, or under control. Merem is the exact opposite. He absolutely loves it when the status quo is stirred up and everyone is thrown for a loop. This is one of the reasons why Merem enjoyed watching the actions of Roa because Roa often times made other vampires insecure of their own positions. But, out of all the vampires, he thinks Ortenrosse is an old fudge who never likes excitement and Vam-Fem is exciting because he spends his life with humans and adapts to their life style. It's also interesting to note that Merem has a friend with the name Gransurg Blackmore (he took his name from Edgar Allen Poe's Nevermore because Blackmore revers birds) who helps the Mage's Association. Both of them support Arcueid, which is what sealed their bond of friendship.

On Arcueid, Merem is very stalwart. He is very much infatuated with her and was slightly frustrated to hear that she had taken Tohno Shiki as a lover. Merem believes that Arcueid will be succeeding the Crimson Moon so he backs her completely. Enough so that all the other vampires call him a loyal lapdog and he takes it as a compliment. A majority of the other vampires presume that Altrouge will succeed the Crimson Moon and that puts him at odds with the rest of them. During meetings, they often have verbal spars and he insults Altrouge by calling her the “false Princess”.

Merem often undertakes a different persona for those he is close with. With fellow workmates like Ciel or animals, Merem reverts to a more childlike manner, doing things much like a 12-14 year old would. He's often full of giggles and chortles and will prefer to play games over being serious. His relationship with Ciel is something of a odd infatuation, going as far as eating a co-worker to make sure he can work with her. It's almost as if he's a stalker but he keeps around her simply because she's interesting due to her conflicting beliefs. With her, he's always a bit more animated, allowing himself to have a more natural flow than the Wise And Cool Merem everyone else sees.

Over all, with others, Merem is something of a jerk. Chaotic neutral, if you will. He loves teasing others to get a reaction and isn't afraid of any threats that fly his way. Well, “isn't afraid” isn't the proper word. He simply just doesn't care and brushes them off. He's very aware that the Church is using him for his abilities but he doesn't mind. In his opinion, he'll outlive the Church so let them do what they want. The same principle exists for others. As long as he's enjoying himself, he doesn't care who is actually taking advantage of him.

◎ Powers/Abilities:
Merem, first and foremost, is a vampire. He possesses high speed, high strength, and high speed regeneration. He’s also exceedingly difficult to kill because of his old age. His regeneration isn’t on par with Roa, who can revive from just a leftover foot, but he can certainly regenerate from very heavy injuries without too much issue. In return for all this, he must drink the blood of humans to survive.

Secondly, he possesses the ability called “demonization”. What this allows him to do is bring to life creatures from the imagination of others. Whether it is real, fake, or completely contrived; he can bring it to life. These creatures are incapable of killing others or causing any type of destruction since they technically do not exist. However, they can make things “not exist” by dragging them into their plane of existence. In effect, they actually can kill things, just not directly. However, these demons are commonly considered good things because they absorb the pains and misfortunes of others due to the imperfection of their existence.

But all things have a downside, and for Merem, he cannot bring creatures from his own imagination to life. Instead, he can only bring creatures from human minds to life. With his dislike of humans, he doesn't want to give them anything so he rarely, if ever, uses this power.

One other thing this power grants him is the ability to speak with animals. That is one thing he does profusely, loving the company of wildlife.

Please see wiki page for images of the following….

Merem does have four demons of his own to use, each making up a limb on his body. To replace his limbs that he lost as a human, Merem was ordered by the Crimson Moon to create creatures that would take their place. So four creatures came into existence. It should be noted that the creatures respect him and follow his wishes. Merem does not order them around but asks them to complete tasks. When one of these creatures is defeated, the limb it represents bursts and Merem must take time to not only reimagine the demon but heal his limb too.

By giving up his right leg, he brings to life the King of the Earth. This huge creature surpasses even Godzilla in size. It's Merem's favorite creature because of it's high attack and defense capability. He wanted it to look like a dog but due to his terrible imagination and art skill, it ended up looking more like a whale with legs. Size: 200 meters in length.

By giving up his left leg, he can bring to life the King of the Sky. This creature floats through the sky but its usage by Merem is actually pretty low. It can take on any creature in a one on one duel but it will die soon after the duel's end. Merem considers it too much of a cost to constantly bring this creature back to life so he rarely uses it. Size: 200 meters.

By giving up his right arm, he can summon Lady Windup. A large robot equipped with weapons fitting for the time period, this is one of Merem's most hated creatures. She is rather stupid and stubborn. If given a complicated order, she will complete the first thing she was told and start random destruction after that. She gets disinterested easily and may just stop in the middle of a task if it isn't enough for her to complete. Size: 10 meters tall.

By giving up his left arm, he can summon the King of the Rats. This is the only creature that is of normal size and has the intelligence of a human. He is also used by Merem quite frequently. The Rat King has the ability to take any humanoid shape and take any humanoid voice. As such, he spends most of his time looking like a Bishop, being Merem's envoy to the outside world. Under the gaze of a high class magic user or a high ranked religious person, he returns to being a rat due to being spooked. Because he's a rat, the Rat King enjoys cheese and pizza is its favorite food. The Rat King, while it's not supposed to like humans, claims that he will tolerate their presence and help them as long as they keep making pizza. Size: Limited to 8 feet tall at most but normal rat size..

*****************

Please feel free to limit any of this as necessary. Type-Moon is the capital of BS so I fully understand. As a preference, in terms of the four beasts, I’d much prefer if their size were shrank as opposed to having them removed completed.

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
Nothing but his clothes, really!

Samples

◎ First-Person Sample:
If you think about it, this isn't such a bad set up. You have everything you need and could probably get anything you want.

[He taps his chin once, as if thinking. Merem knows exactly what he wants to say but the break in conversation is meant to rile up whoever is listening. This isn't a good situation at all and he knows no one would agree with him.]

...ah, there is the matter of everyone you know dying in a horrible fashion. But those are the facts of life. Whatever is living must also die at some point. Well, there are a few exceptions but I'm certain none of you are one of them. It was just a shame that you had to be in the position of being one of the few survivors.

[He chuckles lightly. It wasn't a shame at all. Merem was glad that humanity on his planet was wiped out, though it would cause problems with boredom. Arcueid...was a different matter but he honestly doubted anything could actually kill her so that wasn't a worry. Either way, boredom could be solved, especially in a new situation like this.]

Think of it this way, at least you aren't in a wasteland of the kind that would be featured in movies. When you're at rock bottom, the only way to go is up, hm?

◎ Third-Person Sample:
Not very many people were allowed in this area. It was, after all, deep inside the Vatican, where the Church's secret agents kept their peace. Or lack thereof. Merem belonged to a lively bunch of people, the strongest group that fought for the sake of humanity. Ironic, Merem knew, that he was in this spot considering that he fed on humans and disliked them quite a bit. But, for his power, the Church was willing to break its own rules. He was their dog and they gave him what he wanted in return.

And part of what he wanted was in his hands right now. It was a spear, more specifically, one used by a holy saint in the past. History and artifacts were Merem's obsession and he was willing to sell his pride over them. Whatever pride he had left, at least. His security in his loyalty to the Crimson Moon left him able to do whatever he wanted and ignore the implications and ripples it might cause. Those very same ripples were fun to watch at least.

Merem gave the spear a wobbly thrust, unused to wielding weapons at all. It was a bit unbalanced in his hands but he was also fairly small. The person it was made for had him beat on size by quite a bit. He could only lift it securely because of his own vampire strength. What was important was the fact that he could feel the metal of the weapon and understand what the original user felt while holding it. It had some holy attributes which should have made it somewhat painful for him to bear but he didn't seem any worse for the wear.

Those few moments satisfied his curiosity and Merem placed the spear back on its rack carefully. There were mountains of books to read about this particular weapon and Merem certainly had the time to spare. Missions weren't all that frequent, especially since Ciel seemed to be taking the brunt of them. Both him and Ciel knew that the Church was trying to get her killed in action but it didn't seem to stop her persistence in completing her goals unharmed. Merem admired that same persistence in a way that a scientist admires the persistence of a rat navigating a maze. And speaking of rats....

...one had found its way into the room. Of course, it bore a message for Merem. Speaking to animals had its benefits and the spy network that the rats had was absolutely massive. If Merem wanted to know something, they could find out for him easily enough.

After the creature told its story, Merem gave it a smile. "Tell them no problem. Give me a couple more hours and I'll find my way over there. I'm sure Ciel will have a lot of talk about now that she's back from...where was it? Japan? Stories about her 'Tohno-kun', I bet. Sickening but she does enjoy to chat about him."

After giving it a pat on the head, he shooed off the rat. He did promise to leave his solitude so Merem had preparations to make.
